If you’ve previously had a tree felled or have moved into a property with tree stumps, you might be considering getting rid of them. If you’ve ever tried to remove a tree stump, you will know just how tricky it can be! They are notoriously difficult to remove because of the unseen root growth beneath. We offer different services for your unwanted tree stumps. We are fully knowledgeable in tree stump removal and are experts in our field. We have quality equipment and can remove your tree stumps whilst maintaining the surrounding areas and keeping them free from damage. Poisoning of tree stumps This is quite a long process. Firstly, the stump is cut down to as small a size as possible. Secondly, we drill holes into the sides of the stump. These help during rotting as they allow air to penetrate into the wood. Each hole is filled with a chemical that rots the wood. This is then topped up with water. After a month or six weeks, the stump will be easy to break up with a standard garden axe. Other chemical stump removal techniques Another way of removing a stump chemically is to pour a flammable substance like kerosene into the drilled holes. As with the poison, the substance needs to soak into the wood. This can take some weeks. The burning process can begin after the wood is saturated. Due to the risk of fire, we take extreme care with this method and make sure that there are no flammable objects nearby, including leaves. Stump grinding This is the most environmentally friendly way to remove an unwanted tree stump. It is also the quickest way. The stump is ground down and you can use the remains for garden mulch or compost. This can even be done when tree stumps have neighbouring garden features that you need to keep intact.
